Sousou no Frieren (2023) ~ 3 Episodes Rule

So...

I've watch the first 3 episode of Sousou no Frieren, but boy oh boy... I can already tell that this anime will not end good for my heart.

Title : Sousou no Frieren ~ Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
Studios : Madhouse
Premiered : Fall 2023
Total Episodes: ?
Synopsis : The demon king has been defeated, and the victorious hero party returns home before disbanding. The four—mage Frieren, hero Himmel, priest Heiter, and warrior Eisen—reminisce about their decade-long journey as the moment to bid each other farewell arrives. But the passing of time is different for elves, thus Frieren witnesses her companions slowly pass away one by one.
Before his death, Heiter manages to foist a young human apprentice called Fern onto Frieren. Driven by the elf's passion for collecting a myriad of magic spells, the pair embarks on a seemingly aimless journey, revisiting the places that the heroes of yore had visited. Along their travels, Frieren slowly confronts her regrets of missed opportunities to form deeper bonds with her now-deceased comrades.

First Impressions

In a world filled with countless hero vs. demon king stories, "Sousou no Frieren" takes a refreshingly different approach. This anime isn't about defeating the main villain or showcasing the growth of the hero's party; it's about life after victory. This anime invites us to explore life after the epic battle and tells the story of Frieren.

The relationships in "Sousou no Frieren" are a central theme. While Frieren's party members clearly love and cherish her, she struggles to reciprocate because she believes her time with them is just a fraction of her life. As the story unfolds, Frieren learns that feelings and memories are eternal, regardless of the difference in lifespans. She's given the chance to change her perspective by understanding and appreciating those who have spent most of their lives with her.

Episodes Spoiler

The first episode revolves around a promise made by Frieren and her party to reunite and witness a meteor shower that only occurs once every 50 years. Time plays a crucial role as Frieren, an elf with a long lifespan, perceives a decade as a short span compared to humans.

We see Frieren as a lone, ageless elf who views the world and its fleeting moments with a sense of detachment. Yet, slowly but surely we start to see her transformation. The bonds she forms with her party members reveal her longing for companionship, even if she doesn't fully realize it at first. The anime beautifully conveys the idea that the value of moments becomes apparent only when they turn into memories.

On the third episode, Frieren takes on a new role as a mentor to a human girl named Fern. It's a moment of profound significance, as Frieren, who had once considered herself an observer of human life, now embraces the chance to understand and nurture another's existence. It's a narrative arc that beautifully encapsulates the theme of growth and learning that permeates the entire series.

This gradual unfolding of Frieren's character and her newfound purpose is a testament to the series' strength in storytelling. The anime doesn't rush to deliver its message; instead, it invites you to contemplate the nuances of life, time, and human connection.

What's Worth My Time

This anime boasts high-quality production, with animation by one of the best anime studio, Madhouse. The visuals are stunning, capturing the fantasy world's beauty. The animation breathes life into the story, enhancing the emotional impact of each scene.

The pacing of the anime is so relaxing, deliberately allowing for a beautifully written narrative to unfold. It gives the audience time to savor each moment and appreciate the nuances of the story.

The character dialogues are relaxed and often laced with humor, making it easy for viewers to connect with the characters and their emotions. The voice acting is top-notch, with Tabezaki Atsumi (also voice Anya from Spy x Family) as Frieren and Okamoto Nobuhiko (also voice Bakugou from MHA) as Himmel leading the cast. Their performances bring depth and authenticity to the characters, making you genuinely care about their journeys.

Watch or Walk

Absolutely Watch! Sousou no Frieren offers a different perspective on time, memories, and relationships, it prompts viewers to reflect on the value of the moments they share with loved ones. The beautiful animation and exceptional voice acting add to the overall charm of the series.

Overall, "Sousou no Frieren" might be a slow-paced anime, but I feel like it's warmth, beauty, and emotion will worth my time.

I'm into Vocaloid (part 2)

I found some Vocaloid's Cover that I love Hello, continuing our latest topic about Vocaloid and Vocaloid Producer, I also want to talk about Utaite. But before that, let me explained what's utaite "Utaite: (歌い手) is a Japanese term for people who cover previously released songs and post them on Nico Nico Douga and YouTube under the utattemita category. The term "utaite" is unique to Nico Nico Douga singers, making it different from Kashu (歌手), which means "singer" in general." ( source ) Yes, from the explanation I get from Wiki Fandom, IT IS the term uniquely used on Nico Nico Douga . But because I can't really access NicoNico in my country, I won't talk about utaite that only upload their music on NicoNico. Instead, I will talk about utaite that share their music on YouTube (I'm sorry) . The first utaite I know is Soraru . I don't really remember how I found his song (again, thanks to YouTube algorithm), but I found his cover of き...

Chainsaw Man (2022) ~ Anime Talk

I finished watching the anime, but I don't really have the time to actually write down how I feel about it. I don't know where I should start, honestly, but here we go... Manga Cover Design  Before talking about the anime, I would like to take a moment to appreciate the manga cover. Story & Art :  Fujimoto, Tatsuki Serialization : Shounen Jump+  As someone who self-learned 'some' graphic design back in my college days, I've got an eye for these things. And let me tell you, the cover of Chainsaw Man...It's a thing of pure beauty. I've always love neon colors for as long as I can remember, and when I first stumbled upon this series (we're talking way before the series got adapt into anime), I was absolutely mesmerized by the manga cover. It's one of those covers that make you want to reach out and grab the book, even if you have no idea what's inside. A visual treat for my eyes. So, hats off to the creative minds behind that eye-catching cover!...

Tensei Ringo / Reincarnation Apple ~ Behind The Lyrics

Let's talk about this song that I've grown quite fond of. Overall, I have to say I really like it. It's a well-rounded package – from the captivating illustration to the theme, the heartfelt lyrics, and the melody that weaves it all together.  Now, as I delve into the meaning of the song, it seems to revolve around a character who harbors a deep dissatisfaction with their ordinary life. The recurring thought that plagues them is: 'What would it be like to be reborn as someone else?' It's a sentiment that suggests a longing for a life that's more exciting, more meaningful. But here's the twist. As the song progresses, this character undergoes a realization. They come to understand that in every 'new life' they imagine, there will always be troubles, challenges, and hardships. Even individuals who seem great, possessing exceptional talents and power, have their own set of problems. It's a reminder that there's no such thing as a 'perfec...
